Taxation

Deducting the correct amount of tax each week is as important to us as it is to our Temporary Workers.

Ideally you should have a Tax form P45 from your previous employer or agency which you need to forward to us before your first pay day.

If you do not have a P45 we can supply you with a form P46 for your completion, which again should be returned to us before your first pay day if possible. You may be taxed at a slightly higher rate for a few weeks until the tax office tells us of your correct tax code. Any over-payment of tax will be refunded to you through the payroll.

A form P46 can also be used by someone who is starting their first job after leaving full-time education. If the tax office rules are met, our payroll department will be authorised not to deduct tax until the current tax threshold is reached.

Full-time students at a recognised UK school, college or university who work during their vacation and will earn less than the current threshold in the tax year can be exempted from paying tax. We can provide you with a form P38(S) for your completion, which should be returned to us so that the correct procedure can be followed.

National Insurance

If you are a married woman paying reduced national insurance contributions, we should be pleased to receive your certificate of election before your first pay day.

Anyone of retirement age is exempted from paying national insurance contributions. We need to have your Certificate of Exception which can be obtained from the Benefits Agency.

If you have any queries regarding your pay please contact either Phil or Lesley in the payroll department on 01473 258277.
